Tampa, FL - October 19, 2005 - Luna Guitars, a Tampa-based
company that designs guitars for females of all
ages, has donated one of its signature inlaid guitars
to the Ophelia Project, a national non-profit organization
committed to helping girls grow up in a safe and
supporting culture. Ophelia also sponsors educational
resources and programming nationwide and acts as
an advocate for youth.
The Ophelia Project’s
Tampa chapter Executive Director Norrine Russell
explained that the organization plans to hold a
drawing for the guitar among attendees at its first
national conference to take place in Tampa this
month. The winner will award the guitar to a girl
or young woman who can benefit from the opportunity
to achieve her goals and express herself through
music.
Luna Guitars’ Executive Director and
Artistic Designer Yvonne de Villiers, who presented
the company’s
signature Luna Moth model acoustic inlaid guitar
to Dr. Russell, noted that affirming and empowering
females of all ages is one of Luna Guitars’ core
values. “Luna is pleased to support the wonderful
work of the Ophelia Project. We salute their efforts
to help girls and young women nationwide and join
them in the belief that females of all ages make
valuable contributions to our society. We’re
delighted that our donation of a Luna guitar will
help a deserving young woman develop her musical
talents.”
